NAIDOC week starts today!
During NAIDOC Week we celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Under the theme - Because of Her, We Can! - NAIDOC Week 2018 is particularly focused on celebrating the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women. ... As pillars of our society, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women have played – and continue to play - active and significant roles at the community, local, state and national levels. As leaders, trailblazers, politicians, activists and social change advocates, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women fought and continue to fight, for justice, equal rights, rights to country, for law and justice, access to education, employment and to maintain and celebrate culture, language, music and art.
These women are our mothers, our elders, our grandmothers, our aunties, our sisters and our daughters

The sad and untimely passing of musician Phil Emmanuel from an Asthma attack is a reminder that Asthma can be fatal and people living with Asthma should be regularly reviewed by their GP to ensure they have their Asthma under control and know what to do in an emergency.
The key to this is having a written Asthma Action Plan. The aim of an Asthma action plan is to help the person with Asthma and/or their carer take early action to prevent or reduce the severity of an Asthma a...ttack. Regular review of the Asthma action plan is important as a person’s level of asthma severity or control may change over time.
Please call the West Cessnock Medical Practice on 49915550 to make an appointment if you have concerns about Asthma Management
