Keeping mentally healthy is as important as staying physically healthy.
As part of a Staff Wellbeing initiative we are piloting the Act-Belong-Commit program (originally developed by Mentally Healthy Western Australia) at 10 of our health facilities.
The three elements of the program are:
... Act – do something, physically, mentally or socially;
Belong – join a group, catch up with friends or do something with someone, and
Commit – engage in meaningful activities, get involved or volunteer.
There have been some great things happening across the District - some of the activities include yoga sessions in Dubbo, a street library and Mindful Corner in Nyngan, walking groups, recipe swaps and raising money for great causes, such as the ‘Biggest Morning Tea’ in Warren.

Nick Morton was supposed to celebrate his team’s AFL grand final win, but not long after the match, he collapsed and went into cardiac arrest. Nick’s heart attack came as a massive shock for the active father of one. Using My Health Record meant he could manage his health information between his GPs, specialists and even moving interstate.
