Thanks to Spinal Surgeons - Dr Sean Suttor, Dr Randolph Gray and Dr Nathan Hartin from Harbour Spinal Centre for providing an informative GP education evening tonight. We are very lucky to have such wonderful specialists who take time out if their busy schedules to help educate our GP’s.

A special thanks to Val Walker for knitting us some more colourful Trauma Teddies for our Paediatric Ward - they certainly put a smile on our patients faces. Thanks to Harrison for so bravely showchasing our latest batch of teddies.

Last night we took time to thank some of our key specialists admin staff with an evening enjoying a movie in Gold Class style. Just a small way to show our appreciation of these wonderful ladies.

Congratulations to Samantha & Geoff Mavros on the safe arrival of Gwenyth Louise, a beautiful baby girl weighing in at 3710 grams and 52.5cm in length. Sam worked right up to the day before Gwenyth arrived - that’s what we call one committed team member! (She did arrive unexpectedly a few weeks early). It is always nice when one of our team delivers their babies with us. Congratulations.

Today we celebrated our STARS Staff Awards - congratulations to Alison Frost, Lee Wallis, Jasoda Patel, Sue Brame, Brian Stirling, Cathy Ma, Andrew Clements & April Tipay who were nominated by their peers for outstanding work in June & July. We like it when we have the opportunity to thank some of our amazing staff who have gone over and above their normal working duties. Well done team.
We also took the opportunity to congraulate Irene Mayo who was nominated for the HESTA Nursing & Midwifery Awards and Megan Dollison who recently completed our GradPlus Program, Megan will be staying with us and working as a Scrub Scout in OT. Well done team.

Thanks to Dr Daniel Biggs (Orthopaedic Surgeon) and Daniel Vukovic (Physiotherapist) for undertaking a live surgery education event for a group of Physiotherapists and GPs tonight- a wonderful and unique learning opportunity on ACL repair using the Tape Locking Screw (TLS) technique.

We were proud to take part in the ‘Meals from the Heart’ Program at Ronald McDonald House tonight. Our team stepped into the kitchen to cook a meal for families with seriously ill children, making a meaningful difference for others. Well done team.

Congratulations to Sue Obermairer and Karen O’Shaughnessy on graduating with a Masters of Business Administration from the Australian Institute of Business - a great achievement undertaken whilst working full time. Well done ladies we are proud of you.

Please join us in congratulating Professor Brian Owler (Neurosurgeon) who was recognised in yesterday's Queen's Birthday Honours List. Professor Owler was made a Member (AM) in the General Division for his significant service to medicine through the leadership and administration of professional medical organisations, and to education.

Tonight we hosted community seminar on weight loss surgery with Dr Ertugrul Durmush (Bariatric Surgeon) and the team at Life Weight Loss Centre. A great opportunity to learn about surgical options and multidisciplinary support available throughout the weight loss journey.

Wishing our amazing Director of Clinical Services a happy birthday today. We hope you have a wonderful celebration and thank you for all that you do for our staff, patients and doctors every day.

Today we farewell Adam our amazing Hotel Services Manager. He has helped us improve so many things at Westmead Private and helped us look at things from a different perspective. We will miss him terribly, his sense of humour, his smiling face and his hard working attitude. We wish him all the best as he starts another adventure in his working life.

Congratulations to Ian and Denise Menzies who became grandparents on the weekend, with their daughter Zoe welcoming a baby girl Macey. We wish them every happiness as they begin this new chapter as grandparents.
