The NSW Government’s redevelopment of Westmead will transform the iconic complex into an innovative, contemporary and integrated centre which can continue to deliver high quality healthcare for decades to come.

Stage 1 is expected to include a new acute services building with new operating theatres, extra inpatient beds and comprehensive care centres that will co-locate complex and critical care services including trauma and surgery.

The project is part of the NSW Government’s commitment to keep people healthy and out of hospital, provide world-class clinical services with timely access and effective infrastructure and invest in critical infrastructure.

Planning is underway with construction expected to commence in 2015 on the early works including a new car park.

Work is also progressing on a plan for the Westmead education, health and research precinct.
