About Whale Watching Sydney

Sydney's best whale watching company with more than 25 years of experience. Only 10-15 minutes from Circular Quay to the open ocean.

Whale Watching Sydney Description

At Whale Watching Sydney we have been watching Humpback Whales off our beautiful coastline since 1993, so we know the great feeling that people get
seeing these whales up close and personal.

Our experienced crew is looking forward to welcome you aboard Sydneys best custom built, fast and spacious
vessels to give you the best day possible out at sea. It's an unforgettable experience!

From mid May to early December tens of thousands of Humpback Whales migrate along the coast off Sydney each year.

Your cruise begins with all of Sydney Harbours famous sights such as the Opera House, the Harbour Bridge,
Watsons Bay and many more as we make our way towards the entrance of Sydney Harbour.

Then we head to the blue waters of the pacific ocean where we witness these magnificent mammals migrate past
Sydney's famous beaches and rugged cliff lines in the biggest mass migration in the world.

If I could give a rating of “zero” then I would. I had to call the company multiple times in order to get the confirmation email of our booking. Two phone calls were made the morning of the booking and at no stage were we informed that the cruise was cancelled, until we turned up. We had travelled 45 min to get there.

On arrival we stood at the location we were directed to be, yet nobody from the company was present. We had to be informed by another company in location that the cruise was probably cancelled. We then had to ask for directions to the company front desk located elsewhere in cockle bay, in order to find out what was happening.

On arrival at the front desk, we explained that we had found our experience with the company disappointing so far. As a result, the man at the desk, Jeff proceeded to explain that the cruise was cancelled because it would be uncomfortable and rough seas were dangerous. There was no understanding that we were frustrated because the company showed no interest in telling us in advance that the cruise was cancelled, even though the decision had been made the day before. We completely understand that the cruise was dependent on the sea state.

As a local to Sydney, it’s embarassing to think that this is the service provided to tourists who visit our beautiful city. I am going to ensure that I never recommend this company to other Sydney residents or friends visiting.

I read here that they are not the cheapest. But you're not looking for the cheapest. YOU WANT THE BEST! Especially if you go through the trouble coming all the way to Sydney.

I don't know if they are the best, but I had several tours with them, morning and afternoon during my stay in Sydney. And I will use them next time in Sydney

Great tour!!! The small boat it is confortable and fast! Our guide has excellent knowledge and it's good in spot whales! Definitely doing again next year!

We went on the three hour Discovery whale watching tour from Darling Harbour. We were confused about the departure point and almost missed the boat. They called me on the mobile and waited for me to rush back to the aquarium wharf to catch the boat. Very friendly and helpful staff. I don't think any other whale watching cruise would have called me to check if we were lost.

The 3-hour cruise was comfortable (we went on the larger boat). We saw three pods of whales. The naturalist commentator on board was very knowledgeable. They really do care for the environment and unlike other aggressive cruise boats take a careful and respectful distance from the whales. They are not the cheapest, but they are worth the price. Their cruises are not overcrowded.

If you want an experience of your lifetime this is the one you can't afford to miss whilst in Sydney. We went out with this company on the two hour adventure twice whilst there on holiday. The service was outstanding from buying the tickets from the amiable Peter and Geoff in the office to the guys crewing the start of the art triple engined purpose built craft. We saw 4 whales on our first trip and they swam under the boat, can't get closer than that ! The second trip a week later was simply amazing, breaching whales, tail and fin slapping, a photographers dream and a massive tick on the bucket list for us. If you do nothing else in Sydney, do this and be privileged to get close to these magnificent creatures. Have a great time, we did. Phil and Gemma, Manchester, England.

Great day out on the adventure whale watching tour. Fun ride on the fast boat, friendly guide and we saw 2 whales and followed them for about 30 mins . Was a great trip. Definitely recommend.

User

Great experience here. The smaller boats with three 250 HP Yamaha outboards are fast. Gets you out there quickly, see the whales, and back to the harbor. We saw humpbacks.

User

Absolutely amazing experience, we did the 2 hour speed boat tour and loved every minute of it. Would 100% do it again

Great experience
The boat (catamaran) was super comfortable , fast and not noisy making it flexible to be near the whales without bothering them.
The crew was dedicated to gibing us a good experience.
Definitely recommend.
Dress warmly and ready for the wind, even if it's quiet and warm on land.
