Really good range of cars although the one I went to see was not as advertised. Good thing it was a pass by visit.

User

Have brought 2 cars through wholesale traders now. Both times I was dealt with professionally and honestly. I suspect no used car yard is perfect but I do and have recommended them to my friends who have reported similar experiences.

User

Great staff. Good selection of cars. Cheap prices. Can walk away with a bargain

Serious customers will be attended to directly and offered the highest quality of service, this is Wholesale Traders Newcastle's statement of fact.
I contacted Shane Nilsson at 8:30 am on Friday September 16 about a 2011 Volkswagen Multi van T5 Comfort line White 7 Speed Automatic Wagon advertised for $18,900.00
Shane told me the Multivan had full VW service history and drove perfectly and if i purchased the van today he would sell for $18,000.
I advised him that i would organise a bank cheque and be on the 11:30 am flight from Brisbane to Newcastle to drive straight back to Brisbane on arrival at 56 Clyde St, Hamilton North I started the VW and noted a mixture of knocking and clicking sounds coming from the engine, Shane rang Joel at European Car Centre and asked if he could diagnose the noises as the VW was to travel to Brisbane, on arrival Joel put VW on the hoist and spent 30 minutes troubleshooting to advise that the dual mass flywheel was slowly but surely destroying the bottom end of the engine and should not be driven any further, he rang Shane and advised that whilst the VW was on his hoist with the engine running the noise was almost deafening and it should not be driven any further due to potential catastrophic failure of the bottom end, he suggested a budget of 4 to $5,000.00 to repair and that it was a common issue with VW.
On returning to Wholesale Traders Newcastle at 3.30pm Shane was apologetic again reiterating that he hadn't noticed the engine noise.
The van was sign written with the previous owners 1300 number, i rang and spoke to the gentleman who had driven it for 180,000 ks from new who advised me he had traded it in on a new VW van because it had a strange engine noise for the past 10,000 ks that was getting louder by the day.
Shane's response to this information was that his boss David Mckay had purchased the van from VW so he had obviously _ _ _ _ up !
We then discussed the fact that i had arrived with the expectation of driving home and it is now 4 pm and i have no overnight provisions or transport.
Shane offered to put me up at the local pub for the night and discuss some form of recompense with David Mackay in the morning due to the major inconvenience and expense i had incurred as a result of their incompetence and misrepresentation of the vehicle.
I declined the accommodation offer and caught a train to Sydney before i exploded with anger and incredulity.
Shane emailed me on Wednesday 21st September asking if i still wanted to buy their mechanical hand-grenade, i replied that i would like to be reimbursed the $533.18 out of pocket expenses incurred due to the misrepresentation of the vehicle.
Received today Thursday 22nd September.
My Name is David Mackay.
I am the part owner of the business, and would like to firstly apologise for the inconvenience caused to you buy our car not being suitable.
However.
We do not refund or reimburse any expenses incurred.
Although unfortunate we maintain a transparent approach to our selling and do not have a qualified VW technician available at will.
Apologies again.
Regards
Dave
The general public should be aware that Wholesale Traders Newcastle, 56 Clyde St, Hamilton North NSW 2292, are not a reputable company to do business with in my opinion due to the above described fiasco.
