Wilberforce United Soccer Club was established in 1979. The first President was Terry Jones and the Secretary Jean Tunbridge. The Club was sponsored by Richmond Datsun Centre.

The first meeting was held at Wilberforce School. Training was also held at Wilberforce School and then at The Breakaway. In 1979 there were three teams: Under 7's, 9's, and 11's.
