Wombat And Poss Description

My philosophy

Wombat & Poss creates beautiful, sustainable clothing and accessories for babies and children. I hand-knit and sew each item using natural, socially and environmentally responsible fabrics and fibres.

My style is heavily influenced by Scandinavian and Japanese design, but with an Australian twist! I adore fabrics and I’m always looking out for unique, colourful and vibrant designs in organic cotton to complement my range. I love experimenting and evolving my designs and range so you’ll always find something new.

Where can I find Wombat & Poss’ earth-friendly items?

Wombat & Poss goodies are available for sale online on Etsy (wombatandposs. etsy.com) and Madeit (www. madeit.com. au /wombatandposs). Or you can buy right here on Facebook! (https://www. facebook.com/wombatandposs /app /251458316228 /).

You can see (and buy) my items in person at Trove Canberra (www. trovecanberra.com. au) in Canberra. I also pop-up at markets around Canberra, particularly the Handmade Canberra markets.

Something I've been passionate about with my business is supporting other local ethical businesses and community causes and organisations. Recently, I've been able to donate to Sweet Chari-Tea (for Paediatrics at the Canberra Hospital) and Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary (who are reintroducing endangered and locally extinct species to the ACT).
I've decided to make this a regular occurrence each month. Yesterday was World Wombat Day, and this weekend, I'm committing to do...nate 10% of my online sales to ACT Wildlife for their project helping control mange in wombats. Any purchases in my madeit.com.au store (www.madeit.com.au/wombatandposs) or my Etsy store (www.wombatandposs.etsy.com) from Friday 26th through to Sunday 28th November will contribute! While we're not talking large amounts here (much as I'd love that!), it all counts, right?! :)
You can read more about what ACT Wildlife carers are doing to tackle mange in wombats and their success here: https://www.canberratimes.com.au/…/driv e-to-save-sick-womba…

So, this is me after a very busy and amazing Handmade Canberra market on the weekend. Thank you to all of my gorgeous customers and visitors for your support πŸ’• Thank you to my stall neighbours who were so lovely, and thank you and congratulations to the incredible Handmade Canberra team on your birthday and another well-run market πŸ‘πŸ» And coincidentally, today is also World Wombat Day (yes it's a thing!), so Happy Wombat Day everyone! 😁

I'm putting the finishing touches on this little handknitted cardigan. These gorgeous buttons are hand turned from reclaimed timber by the lovely and talented Acorn Craft. They're the perfect match for the beautifully soft organic cotton from Wool and Cotton Road. I'll have just a couple of these cardigans available on the weekend at the Handmade Canberra markets. Handknits really are slow fashion!

I decided to use some of this fabulous magpie fabric to make shorts as well as dresses. I'll have them available at the Handmade Canberra markets this weekend (yes, only two more sleeps!!)

This is exciting news! There's a $100 gift voucher up for grabs every hour at the Handmade Canberra markets this weekend. It's their 10th birthday and they're the ones giving out presents. How awesome are they?!

I'll have dresses in this cute cacti fabric available at the Handmade Canberra markets this weekend. Only 5 more sleeps!

I'm taking some time out from sewing today - which means I'm knitting! I've been using some beautiful organic cotton from Wool and Cotton Road, which I love. It's so soft and the cotton itself is naturally coloured, so there's no dyes involved.

Ooh, only two weeks until the next Handmade Canberra markets! Make sure you've got 20-21st October in your diary. Here's a sneaky peek at some new pants/leggings I've been working on for the markets. They're made from gorgeous Story of Roo organic cotton. I just love how the fabric pattern works front and back πŸ’š @ Canberra, Australian Capital Territory

I want to share these lovely photos of my koala dresses with you. The talented duo that are Bowerbird Photography have captured some gorgeous photos of my clothing range in action during their travels in SE Asia. I love their work and their ethos (they work with many small organisations working for social change and equity). Thanks lovelies! @ Canberra, Australian Capital Territory

I usually knit fluffy ears on these koala beanies, but I thought I'd try something different: pom-poms!! What do you think?

What a lovely video TheCanberra5 have put together about the Handmade Canberra markets! They really capture the market's great vibe. I was pretty chuffed to spot Wombat and Poss, along with many other talented makers 😁 Who can you find?

So, I was super happy to donate $20 to Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary during the week. Huge thanks to everyone who made a purchase in my online shops last weekend and made it possible! I'm thinking I'll do something like this again soon 😊

User

Squee! I was in such a rush to share it with you I didn't iron the dress before I took the photo πŸ˜‚ These dresses will be released at the Handmade Canberra markets next month. I am so tempted to make adult sizes πŸ˜‚πŸ’•
