Lego themed cake for the Danebank Year 12 Valedictory Dinner this week. The cake was designed to go with Principal Maryanne Davis' series of assembly speeches "It's time to build", that she has presented throughout this year. She focused on the girls building on different areas of their lives and in her addresses she used visuals that always showed LEGO characters and LEGO structures. The Year 12 girls, parents and teachers all loved the cake with it been a focal point for photos throughout the evening. Yummies had the pleasure of having the lovely Emma from Emma-Lee Cake Design do a one on one private cake course during the week. The special custom cake request was for a Kenworth T950 truck for her partners birthday. Thanks for sharing these images you took during the process Emma. I never think to stop and take progress photos. We had 3 long work sessions to make this creation, but it was worth it with a great finished product!

For a special family Birthday today! Cute little two tier, 4" & 6" cakes. Decorated with an oversized rose and a dripped watercolour bottom tier. The decoration for the bottom tier was inspired by the beautiful work of Jade from Ivy + Stone Cake Design. I loved making this cake for my Aunty Kathleen!

This is one of our last cakes for 2015 that went out today. This champagne bottle was a big cake standing 60cm tall and presented on a 16 inch cake board.
Like all sculptured novelty cakes I loved making this cake.

This was the perfect cake for a very special Father and Grandfather on the occasion of his 90th Birthday. Con is known for making his own wine, so when his lovely daughter contacted me about a cake for her father it just had to be a wine barrel and grapes for his special birthday cake!
To be honest the thought of making grapes freaked me out a little, to begin with. Once I got into making the many little round gum paste balls and colouring them and I could see them taking for...m I actually really enjoyed making the bunches of grapes and the foliage to go with them.
I love doing wood grain finishes on my cakes and decided to go with a light colour wood to contrast better with the purple/red grapes. I was happy with the colour and effect that was created, and finished off the barrel with a logo using his name and birth year to further personalise the cake design. As the family had left the design in my hand this was a little feature they were not expecting which they loved.
The inside if the barrel was made from my caramel cake. It was requested by the family, as they have tasted all my flavours over the years of having Yummies cakes for their special occasions and it is a favourite.
I received a lovely message after the event. OH MY GOSH! What a beautiful cake. I couldn't believe how lifelike the wine barrel was and the grapes were just perfect. All the guests and the restaurant patrons were in disbelief that it was truely a cake. The branding on the barrel was such a beautiful touch. As always, you exceeded our expectations.
I feel honoured that I get to make cakes for special families and their important celebrations. Jayne xx

I'm excited that Yummies is a finalist again this year at the Australian Bridal Industry Academy - ABIA awards. Thank you to all the lovely couples that have nominated us. xx

I had a fantastic day with fellow Cake Angels setting up, guarding, dismentailing, cutting and serving this massive cake to thousands of children, carers and volunteers at the Sydney Special Childrens Christmas Party. Well done to the Cake Angels team that built this cake. It brought a whole lot of joy and smiles to many little faces today!

Congratulations to Jasmine and David that celebrated their big day with a Yummies wedding cake.
This three tier cake consisted of Raspberry red velvet cake and Vanilla white chocolate cake. Decorated with hand piping and stylised magnolias.

I love making a special cake each year for the Danebank year 12 girls to celebrate the end of their high school days.
This years theme was Keys with the principal, Mrs Davis' farewell speech speaking about the keys to success and to life.
It was a challenging theme to incorporate into a cake without it looking like a classic key 21st cake. This is what I came up with, incorporating the school colours, flame design and custom designed edible image of a key with each of the y...ear 12 girls christian names on it.
I couldn't attend the valadictory dinner this year but I herd from school staff, girls and parents that the cake was well received with lots of group photos around it throughout the evening.

Last week was my little mans 5th Birthday. I'm just organising and sorting out photos from his most recent birthday party and realised I never got around to posting all the photos of him and his cake and dessert table from last year. Oops! He was and still is into construction work and diggers so we had a work site theme. I don't do dessert tables or party styling for customers but it is something I love doing for family and friends. This was his 4th birthday, keep a look out as I will be posting images of his Pirate 5th Birthday party soon and my Husbands recent party.

So if have been thinking ... Gosh Yummies hasn't been doing much lately on Facebook, you would be right. Although, this was far from the truth in real life as we have been off on our amazing US trip, that was the prize for winning the 2014/2015 Bake Boss Cake competition.
I'm finally getting a chance to sit down and post some of the cake related snaps from our American cake adventure. Highlights included our visit to the first The Americas Cake & Sugarcraft Fair in Orlando, ...meeting some well known cake artists, visiting the Satin Ice Factory in Chester, NY and the Cake Boss Factory in New Jersey. We also enjoyed lots of yummy cakes and treats along the way too :)
Apart from cake we also spent lots of quality family time with Mickey Mouse and friends in Disney world, sight seeing in New York City and catching up with Family in Washington DC. It was truly the trip of a life time for me and my family and I want to thank each and every one of you that helped get us there by voting for my Harley Cake and Bake Boss for the amazing prize. I feel so blessed to have had this amazing opportunity come my way.
