My partner was admitted to Calvary Private (new building). She was in there for 2 nights. The staff and facilities (some sections of the hospital are still under construction) were good. The hospital is lacking a cafeteria, so if you need a coffee or something to eat you need to walk over the to public hospital for it.

I was admitted to Calvary Bruce Private Hospital for day-surgery in the brand spanking new hospital. The doctors and staff were all fantastic - all very friendly, helpful and caring. They genuinely looked they were enjoying their jobs. The new facility was great. Shiny, new and clean. Very impressed overall. Thanks guys for making my brief stay as comfortable as possible.

I drove myself to the Emergency as I had terrible pain in my stomach.

I was vomiting and as said terrible pain but they let me sit in the waiting room for over 5 hours. As finally a doctor had time to look at me I felt like half dead but guess what I had to wait another 1 1/2 hour for ultrasound.

After that it went very fast straight into the OR as the diagnoses was acut appendicitis.

Just saying I could have died out there. Why having an emergency if you don't get emergency treatment.
Worst experience ever I hope never have to use this Hospital again.

I arrived at 7.15 am on 8 February at Calvary Hospital Emergency Department. I was attended to by very helpful triage nurse quickly and efficiently. I also received helpful attention from the staff member who took my personal details. I then waited in a quiet waiting area with about 10 other people. Once the handover of from the night shift had.been completed the people waiting rapidly reduced. I was called by a doctor after waiting about 45 minutes which in the circumstances I thought was reasonable. The doctor was very pleasant but efficient and thoughtful. He struck me as being a very experienced and knowledge professional. He listened attentively to my comments regarding my issues and provided me with good advice. On the whole I was very impressed with the quality of service I received at the a Emergency Department of Calvary Hospital.

I was in rehab for 6 weeks and the doctors, nurses and all support staff were fantastic. I also spent 5 months in total in Calvary Hospital and again everyone was great. I lost half a year, but at least everyone was awesome to me 😀.

Today marks the beginning of National Palliative Care week. The theme for this week is ‘What matters most?’, addressing the need for Australians to plan ahead for their end-of-life care and discuss it with their loved ones and health professionals. Palliative Care week highlights how palliative care can help people with a life-limiting illness to have a high quality of life, right to the end of life.

We’re thrilled to announce the appointment of former Australian Government Chief Medical Officer Professor Chris Baggoley AO, to the role of Chief Medical Advisor at Calvary.
The South Australian-based clinician is well respected with a national reputation in the field of emergency medicine, along with progressing the nation’s response to antimicrobial resistance, vaccine preventable disease, the risk of new communicable diseases, and improved screening and early diagnosis of non-communicable diseases such as cancer.
This is a significant honour for Calvary and we look forward to welcoming Professor Baggoley from 21 May 2018.

Yesterday the Canberra Times published an article about the death of one or our valued staff members, Andrew Earl, and that this may have been associated with bullying at Calvary Bruce Public Hospital.
We are very sad about the loss of Andrew, and we continue to grieve his absence and the manner of his dying in June 2017. We deeply respect the wishes of Andrew's family not to comment on his situation directly.
Calvary does take bullying, harassment and intimidation very serio...usly.
We will not tolerate these forms of gross disrespect in any way.
Calvary wishes to reinforce that staff who speak out will be supported in being heard and the matter investigated. There are several ways for them to speak out and they do not have to confront an individual who may be the subject of their complaint.
Individuals may raise the matter either with their Human Resources Representative, or senior executives, or with the Fair Work Commission, the Public Service Commissioner or the ACT Human Rights Commission. In addition, spiritual and emotional support and free counselling are available for employees and their families.
