Hotel Canberra - Realm

Had our Xmas party there, tapas & pizzas. Instead of serving up 2 different dishes of chicken wings, could have been a bit more innovative or generous with the tapas. The pizzas were great though. They have a good selection of beers on tap & plenty of outdoor space if you need some fresh air.

An awesome surprise. Lovely suite. I recommend a short 10min walk to Manuka shopping centre for a wider range of restaurant options.

I stayed at the Realm the day before and on my wedding night and it was perfect! Staff were amazing and beyond helpful! Highly recommend this hotel.

From the friendly staff, the decor to the amazing suites with luxury bathrooms and a bed that you won't want to leave. If you get a terrace that's even better for a casual drink in the afternoon to soak in the view of the hills

Completely different from what I saw on their website and booking sites.
The room is very dirty with dust and stains everywhere. The shower lets water splits to the whole floor of the bathroom, I almost slipped off when stepped out from the shower.
When I first arrived at the entrance, there were 4-5 taxis parking in front of the entrance, there was no way for me to get in, I had to stop the car in the middle of the street for a while then I had to drive a round until some of the taxis moved out.
I requested for the baby cot from the first reservation, but there was nothing during the stay.
I booked this hotel because it’s rated 5 stars. But it’s actually worth 1 star only.
DO NOT pick this hotel!

Great social venue, especially for after work drinks. Food quality is pretty good. Service is efficient and friendly.

The room didn't look like it had been cleaned at all, the glass and mirrors in the bathroom were dirty, the bathroom had mould particularly in the shower, the rubbish bin in the bathroom had a full, tied bag in it and the bin was sitting in the middle of the bathroom when we arrived? On our floor there was rubbish in places and an empty wine glass that stayed there for the entirety of our stay which was 3 days and it was in plain view of cleaning staff but did not move. When we got there it was cold being winter and the heater was broken which we had to get maintenance to come fix. The thing that has left a bitter taste in my mouth is my daughter left her beloved toy that shes had since she was tiny in the room, I rang that night once I unpacked and realised, its been almost a month since we stayed there and they have still been unable to find my daughters toy???? How hard can it be?! it was in the bed, its either got to be under the bed or in my opinion in the sheets but they cant seem to find it so the conclusion I have come up with is that one of their staff has stolen it as it was an expensive toy.... Things don't just disappear. When I have spoken to someone on the phone they haven't bothered to ring me back, Ive been passed on person to person having to repeat my story over and over and no one seems to be doing anything and has made me feel like they don't care. Lastly I spoke to a man who I believe was the manager and he said to me after I said that things don't just disappear that he doesn't believe that his staff would have stolen it because it wasn't valuable, I was gobsmacked.... So rude and disappointing!

Great location, well appointed rooms. Just needs to step up the game with more quality housekeeping. The rooms are certainly very comfortable and great for families. I would certainly recommend staying here on a visit to Canberra.

Good service, good size room, needs more cleaning

Was there for a work function and the morning, afternoon teas as well as the lunch catering was fantastic. The hotel lobby and conference area is very open, modern and clean. The toilet facilities are clean and well maintained though in one of them the music was a little more suited to a dance/rave/night club then the typical background hotel bathroom music I would have expected but I was not there for my listening pleasure.

If I could give more then 5 stars I would.

I have stayed in a few hotels previously but the Realm is above all of them. The room my wife and I stayed in was very spacious. Stunning bathroom as well. Free movies available on demand. Also depending on the package you choose or how much in advance you purchase a room you get free parking. Free gym to use too.

If you are ever in Canberra I would highly recommend this place. Families, couples or single. The Realm has something for you.

Complete disgrace! DO NOT STAY HERE!! SAFETY & PRIVACY NOT GUARANTEED at Hotel Realm, as an intruder was allowed in to our room, with an access/key-card. A two month old baby and 3 females getting ready for the wedding were in the room at the time. JOEL GORDON (part of the hotel management only since January this year) did not handle the situation satisfactorily. Only giving a cheap and nasty $380- credit as compensation, safety and privacy far out-weighs this. Extremely unacceptable for a so called 5-star hotel.

Incident: approx. 12.00-2.00pm on Saturday 26th November 2016 at Hotel Realm, National Circuit, Barton ACT.
Room: 114
A complete stranger/intruder walked in with a key-card to allow access to our room (issued by front desk staff). This incident was acknowledged by front desk staff on the day. I would not expect this of any establishment, let alone a 5-star hotel.
Three females at the time were in room 114 half naked getting ready for the wedding on the day and a two month old baby in the room also.
These are the sisters and niece of the bride and her now husband.
I'm sure if this was your partner, sister, mother, daughter or child you would be more than unhappy for a stranger to walk in on you or them.
I had not mentioned the incident to the bride and groom or their and my father in law on the day, as not to upset them and the big special day.
Personal belongings, expensive wedding gifts and large sums of cash were held in this room also. Who knows what may have happened to these items also.
We also had the issue of one of the females in the room of her bag being moved which started confrontation between the three females, due to the expensive wedding gift inside. Assumptions were then being made it could have been the intruder.
The incident had been also reported to the front desk staff, who simply just said: "sorry".
Plenty of time, effort and money has been spent on the wedding and at Hotel Realm.
It just leaves a bad taste in your mouth having such a terrible experience, when Hotel Realm & Joel Gordon basically do minimal to compensate for compromising our safety and privacy.
You have been warned.
